ABOUT THE SITE

Infertility brings a deep pain that only those who have experienced it firsthand can truly understand. Every month that passes without a positive pregnancy test is a loss that is difficult to impossible to grieve openly. Individuals and couples that walk the path that was chosen for them may feel indescribable frustration and isolation on even their best days.

I know this to be true because I am walking this path. And in my fervent efforts to identify all available resources to assist me in working through the trying times, I found many books, websites, discussion boards, and of course, infertility clinics that were willing  to help.

What I found painfully lacking was any local resource through which infertile individuals and couples could connect with others that are also traveling the path.  Surely I am not the only woman and we are not the only couple in Kentucky experiencing this!

In addition to working toward the formal creation of an infertility support group within Lexington, I am also volunteering my time toward the construction of this website, which I hope to eventually grow to become The Resource for the Central Kentucky area.

The mission of Infertility Resources is to connect with individuals and couples who have been touched by the loss and pain of infertility; establishing a presence that is both welcoming and informative, while supporting each participating individual/couple's choice of the path toward healing that is right for them.

I welcome your feedback as I continue to create this presence not only for myself, but for each of you.

ABOUT ME

My name is Sunny and my personal battle with infertility has spanned a decade. I have tubal factor infertility and have suffered through two ectopic pregnancies, the second one nearly fatal.

Recently, my husband and I tried a round of IVF. When that failed, I felt that I had also failed miserably. I sank into a deep depression which I continue daily to work myself out of with the assistance of professionals and all of the infertility-related resources that I can get my hands on. Lesson learned: don't be afraid to ask for help!

I am under no illusion that a child will "fix everything". However, having a child could certainly ease the sting of inadequacy that comes with being identified with infertility and the sense of emptiness that childlessness brings.

We are now in the process of obtaining further information on all options, while we take a break from active pursuit to collect ourselves (or perhaps the latter applies to just me!). My personal goal is to find a decision that works best for our family and to always be at peace with that.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

Sunny
